An obvious rip-off!! |
I was kind of excited when I learned that Smart is loading their guns with Smart Bro Rocket WiFi Plus that promises speed of up to 20 Mbps. The kit will be priced at Php6495. This kit will be like Globe's Superstick in which you can connect up to 5 wifi devices. This is twice as fast as Globe's Tonino Lamborghini and will be available for prepaid. It's pretty good and all until you read the catch - the internet pricing will be similar to Smart Bro Rocket Plug-it which is P200 per 180 MB.
Seriously Smart, what the freaking hell are you thinking?!!
I was actually waiting for Smart to change these pricing scheme. I was assuming that after some time it will be offering postpaid subscriptions for their Smart Bro Rocket line up for a much more reasonable price. But that doesn't seem to be the case. I don't know exactly what they are up to or if they think we are stupid or whatever. It doesn't make sense to me. With a speed of 20 Mbps, you can easily consume 180 MB for around 30 minutes watching a low-def Youtube video. If you watch a HD Youtube video then it can consume that same amount of data in as fast as 5 minutes. If you download something from torrent or whatever, that 180 MB is gone in 60 seconds. There goes your P200. What a rip-off.
Anyway guys, as much as I've already ranted about this in one of my previous articles, this topic is grinding my gears again. This is what happens when big company fat cats tries to monopolize the Telco market. Smart is crazy if they think people are gonna bite this absurdity. This is a preposterous joke. It's not even funny. This is a blatant cash grab so let's not support this and boycott Smart so this Smart Bro "Racket" dies altogether.
I wanna know what you think about this issue. Please post in the comments section and let me know.
