Tomb Raider 2012: The Reboot of the Series

These teaser pictures show the new Tomb Raider game that is coming out in 2012. It doesn't have any subtitle after it, simply Tomb Raider. From what I've heard, this will be an origin story and it will show where it all started, how Lara Croft became the woman the she is and we all know.

From the day that Square-Enix acquired Eidos Interactive last April 2009, this is probably the first Tomb Raider game with Square-Enix as the publisher. It been quite some time since the last Tomb Raider game, and it's safe to say that it's worth the wait.

I've never been a fan of the Tomb Raider series. My impressions after seeing the teaser pictures and trailers? Wow. This upcoming game is beautiful. Lara Croft has never been so gorgeous in my eyes. Square-Enix owning the title definitely made the difference. I don't know what kind of magic Square-Enix yield but everything on this looks superb. The gameplay looks very exciting, the environment and overall graphics are stunning, the voice acting is great. I don't know about the past Tomb Raider games though, I can't really make the comparison as I've never played them (will play them soon though ^__^).

However, if you've been playing the hottest titles in PS3, you'll soon realize that this new Tomb Raider's gameplay looks very familiar. Yes, it looks very similar to Uncharted.

This game will be released for PS3, XBOX360, and PC. Now I know why it is shown in Microsoft's E3 instead of Sony's - it is not in their best interest to showcase this game alongside Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. The question is does it have what it takes to go head on with one of the best PS3 games of all time? Well, I can safely say that it has a chance. Looking at these trailers even non-fans will be tempted to buy the game. Myself included.

I'm very excited for this game, will definitely buy it when it gets released.
